The Pyramidion of Amenhotep-Huy

A four sided Pyramidion is found on the top of obelisks or the top of pyramid shaped tombs. This one honors Amenhotep-Huy a scribe during the reign of Ramesses II 1279-1213 B.C.E. These prayers are personal for this person, custom designed to insure his celestial ascent and eternal life. As a royal scribe he was a member of the king’s inner circle. In particular Amenhotep-Huy was the governor of Mem-Nefer. His duties were comparable to being the Secretary of Labor, Agriculture, and Defense combined. His was a very powerful and lucrative position. (Ed. Note: Huy is a nickname for Amenhotep. Throughout this paper the Kemetic term of Mem-Nefer is used instead of the Greek term Memphis.)
