The Choice by Samuel Yette
The Choice is a book that was originally published in 1971. This carefully researched book was and is a classic in truthful, investigative reporting. It is more timely today than it was 30 years ago for one simple reason:
EVERYTHING MR. YETTE REPORTED THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES WAS TRYING TO DO TO BLACK PEOPLE THEY HAVE DONE! The Choice was not intended as a book of prophecy. It was a warning and a call to arms. Our so-called leaders closed their ears to the truth. The chilling consequences are left on our doorstep. After reading this review of one chapter go get the book and youll know why the so-called Negro Civil Rights Movement in America fell apart. Chapter 4A: The Blackpoor put it together
Various aspects of the non-violent movement as led by SCLC are analyzed and examined in this section. Mr. Yette begins with a short story about an incident that occurred during the 1956 bus boycott in Montgomery, Ala. A white man from Texas wrote a letter simply addressed to "the nigger preacher". The U.S. postal service automatically delivered it to Dr. Martin L. King Jr. in Montgomery, Ala. Dr. King raised issues of Black Americans obtaining freedom, justice, and equality from Dec. 1955 to the spring of 1967. He received hate mail from his critics and enemies throughout this period. The hate mail intensified when he began to include economic issues in his speeches in the mid 1960s. A portion of a letter that he wrote to President Johnson in August of 1966 pleading the case of the Black poor is included in the book. Dr. King spoke of poor, homeless Mississippi delta Negroes going to Greenville Air Force Base (which was empty) seeking shelter during the previous winter. Federal troops forcibly drove them off the base. He speaks of another group of Negroes in Washington County, Miss. struggling to make it thru the winter living in tents. "477,732 citizens of Mississippi get welfare but not these homeless, jobless Negroes." The last sentence printed of his letter states, "Callous disregard of the Federal Government for their plight and the plight of tens of thousands of other poor Mississippi Negroes makes a mockery of all the humanitarian ideals this nation espouses throughout the world." Mr. Yette points out that this last sentence, "alerted his supporters and enemies alike that Dr. King might overstep traditional concerns of the civil rights movement." I think it alarmed his supporters more than his enemies. His enemies wanted him to take this step because he could then be isolated from the others. His supporters were scared that they would be stuffed into the same box white folks were going to cram Martin in. I personally remember white reporters going to other so-called Negro leaders asking them what they felt of Dr. King making moves to tie the civil rights movement with the peace and human rights movements. Not one of his "allies" in other civil rights organizations unequivocally supported his attempts, however timid, to combine these issues. In Mr. Yettes opinion, " to friends and supporters it would not only be untactical, but the ultimate folly as well." Lets take a minute to analyze the responses and public attitudes of people with whom Dr. King supposedly shared interests and ideals. Their words, both spoken and unspoken, told white people and the world that if Dr. King continued in his attempt to link those issues he was being stupid, ridiculous, and foolhardy. That they would not go there with him. They did not have his back!!! Dr. King was like a young buck that gets tired of running from the lions. He stepped out of the pack, stated his case, and looked around to see who stood with him. Everyone had taken a step back! They would sell the cause out before they would die for the cause! Here we stand thirty years later. Look at the results of the things they did and did not do. All of those chumps buried Dr. King then joined ranks with the evil lions that killed the strongest of them all, Dr. Martin Luther King. Now the so-called civil rights leaders of the 60s and their Bi-racial mutant offspring work to defeat efforts to achieve any semblance of equality.Mr. Yette notes that Carl Rowan wrote an article in Readers Digest that goes into the details of Dr. Kings first public linking of starvation in Mississippi and the Vietnam massacres being part of the same war. King made these statements during a speech at New Yorks Riverside Church. Among his many accusations, "He labeled the U.S. as the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today and the war a cruel manipulation of the poor. That Vietnamese watch as we poison their water and as we kill a million acres of their crops. U.S. troops may have killed a million South Vietnamese civilians-mostly children. The government tests out our latest weapons just as the Germans tested out new medicines and new torture in the concentration camps of Europe. He accused President Johnson of lying about peace overtures from Hanoi and urged young Americans to become conscientious objectors." This young buck just couldnt take it no mo! He not only saw the truth he saw all the connections leading from lie to lie. If he kept his mouth shut he would be lying by omission. This would have put him in the untenable, immoral position of becoming part of the group of ignorant scum he was fighting against. In addition he would be misleading the people who trusted him and whatever you think, know, or have heard about Dr. Martin Luther King he really tried to do the morally correct things by his people. He wasnt always able to maintain this standard in all aspects of his personal life but he did his people right to the best of his ability and knowledge.
Answer a question for me as quick as you can. On what day was Dr. King assassinated? I know you said April 4, 1968. Check this out the speech at Riverside Church was made on April 4,1967. His assassination was not an incident of metaphysical synchronicity! It was no accident that someone murdered him exactly one year to the day of when he crossed that line in the dirt. If any of the "Negro" leaders had the smallest inclination to follow Martin a clear message was sent in the form of the bullet that ended his life. They all disbanded the struggle and got jobs. They began sleeping with the enemy and conforming to his and her standards. The so-called civil rights struggle was over. Martin told us all he had been to the mountaintop and had no fear. He was not speaking in a spiritual metaphor. He knew he stood alone but he had to tell the truth. He could lie to us no longer. He knew that the attempt of the so-called civil rights movement to appeal to the white mans moral conscience could never work. They have never, in their entire history, demonstrated that they have a conscience! If the white folks lack of a moral center wasn't disgusting enough every "negro" on his side of the table was ready to betray their race at the slightest move by a white man to reach in his pocket for a little piece of silver or a white womans wink.
The rest of this section documents Ralph Abernathy and SCLCs ineffective attempts to continue the standard civil rights plan in place when Martin was assassinated. The Poor Peoples campaigns I and II in 68 and 69 respectively were unmitigated disasters. The politicians with real power took a holiday for the most part. Those who saw them on the hill dissed them. Some did it politely and some were all up in their face. Everywhere they went no matter what anyone else said Abernathy begged and pleaded to the same people who murdered his friend and leader. That was just pitiful!
B: Starvation and Birth Control: The Ultimate Weapons
In 1968 the senate committee investigating hunger in America requested funds of $115,000. They were given $25,000. They ran out of money in early 1969 and asked for $250,000 to continue. They were given 100,000. Sen. George McGovern chaired this committee. In February of 69 he gave a speech which listed among other things a national nutritional survey which found that:
These and other findings about nutritional deficiencies result in children born with damaged brains because mothers are undernourished. Also premature babies with
All of the above conditions lead to early death.
Fifteen senators were on the McGovern committee. Two of them, Ellender from Louisiana and Talmadge from Georgia (both Democrats) were more than strong enough to subvert any positive moves the rest of the committee members tried to make. Ellender was chairman of the Senate Agricultural and Forestry Committee and a ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Talmadge was also on the Senate Agricultural and Forestry Committee plus he was on the Senate Finance Committee. These two men were staunch anti-civil rights spokesmen in their respective homestates and most definitely in the halls of government. They both sat on committees that controlled the purse strings of government. Talmadge attached an amendment to the HEW appropriation that nullified the cut off of funds to segregated schools under title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 64. In the first half of this section Mr. Yette gives the government documents and news reports of Talmadges successful strategies and maneuvers.
Mr. Yette goes on to expose the machinations of President Nixons White House Conference on Food and Nutrition of December 2-4, 1969. In Mr. Yettes words it, "was worse than a farce." President Nixon opened the conference with 3 recommendations designed to reduce the number of hungry people! He suggested no measures for the relief of hunger in America.
This last proposal was part of a plan formulated by Dr. Charles Lowe of the National Institute of Health. The plan recommended Congress pass a law that:
Fannie Lou Hamer was there for the Conference on hunger. When she heard about the birth control proposals she grabbed about a dozen young black men, walked into the room, and demanded to be heard. She spoke about ten minutes on the evil results of this plan and the conference dropped it from consideration. The resolution was obliterated. It died in conference but it didnt die in the hearts and minds of sadistic, controlling, evil white people. Some birth control is advisable but the current programs are completely out of hand. Birth control measures of all types are available to minors without parental consent. A crisis was created which had devastating consequences to black opposition of the type Mrs. Hamer presented. This crisis is an ongoing two-pronged attack: The constant denigration of the Black male and AIDS. These two issues plus the destruction and abandonment of our economic/social base have made it practically impossible for the average young black person to get a decent job that pays a living wage unless they work for white folks! The integrationist traitors of the 1960s led the process of abandonment. Now we have a situation where our own people tell our youth that they shouldnt have babies since they cant afford to raise kids. Arent people with this message treating the symptoms without trying to find a cure? There is so much to say on this subject but it goes outside the parameters of this report. Rather than start a new subject check out THE CONSCIOUS RASTA at http://www.Africa2000.com/CNDX/cndx.htm. The Conscious Rasta has published several reports that deal with birth control, the hip-hop generation, and the manner that our oppressors have control over every aspect of the whole situation. The reports titled Aids Exposed, Population War, Prisons, and Rap Hip-Hop And the N.W.O. are just a few of his many good works. His reports are full of all the facts, details, and footnotes you need. This brother has done his research! Steve Cokely is another Brother who has done just a massive amount of research on the traitors (The Boule) and their handlers.
C: The U.S. Rice Cup: Center of Power And Prejudice
The Asian countries of Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, Laos, and Cambodia are known as the Rice Bowl of the world. The 5 states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and California are known as the Rice Cup. Prior to 1960 the 5 rice bowl countries raised most of their own rice. We participated in a war in these countries that knocked out their capacity to produce enough rice to feed their own people. The Senate and Congressional representatives from the rice cup states not only hold the reins of power in the U.S. government but they represent the most openly prejudiced areas of the United States. They also represent the segment of the population that gained the most profit from both the wars in Asia and the one against Blacks in America.
Mr. Yette begins this section reporting on Congressman Bob Poage from Texas. He chairs the House Committee on Agriculture. This is a man who believed that owners of large farms should get unlimited payments from the federal government not to grow food. At the same time he wants to deny a poor welfare recipient $30 a month for food stamps. Congressman Poage said, " Hell probably buy liquor, pot, or those sort of things." He referred to the needy as being like drones in a beehive and points out that drones are killed when they have out lived their usefulness. While Congressman Poage is making these types of statements Texas leads the nation in the size of farm subsidy payments and in the number of poor people who cant get on welfare. Texas farmers who didnt produce food were paid $457,205,687 in 1967. Not only are the five rice cup states the largest, most important farming areas in the United States their government representatives plus those of the neighboring states control virtually every key committee in both houses of congress. The Rice Cup states control ten out of sixteen standing Senate committees and seven out of twenty one standing House committees. Of these 21 House committees rice cup representatives control 7 out of the 11 most important. Mr. Yette provides a listing on Pg. 123 of all the committees, their chairmen, and allies. A comparison is drawn between the manner in which the rice cup elite make Asians buy rice at prices set by the U.S. and white businessmen in the U.S. make Black Americans pay more for services, products, food, and education. These racist white folks set whatever price they want. Mr. Yette calls this, "typical colonial policy." He goes on to compare the actions of whites in St. Clair County, Alabama when a group of Moslems bought land there with the actions of rice cup whites when South Vietnam wanted to buy rice from Taiwan. The Moslems in Alabama had their lives threatened, their cattle poisoned, and their pasture defoliated by local whites. The people of South Vietnam had their lives threatened by warring factions of three governments, their animals shot, and their lands defoliated by U.S. planes. The second half of this section is a detailed account of the aforementioned Senator Ellenders successful effort to stop South Vietnam from buying rice from Taiwan. Among the many actions and threats he leveled at all who came before him Sen. Ellender sliced $658 million from U.S. foreign aid to the rice bowl countries plus USDA Secretary Hardin raised price supports to U.S. farmers.
D: The Blackpoor Soldier: A Mercenary Suicide
The Machiavellian machinations of the U.S. government that drive Black men into the armed services, the police departments, or the jails are covered in this section. Mr. Yette states in the first paragraph, " young black men are required to give their lives in the pursuit of freedom while actually denying it to themselves and to their military victims elsewhere around the world." He then quotes from the Moynihan Report: March of 1965, pg. 42. " In 1965 Negroes constituted 11.8% of the U.S. population but 8% of the armed services. If the more than 100,000 unemployed Negro men were in the military Negro male unemployment would drop from 9.1% to 7%." The report goes on to point out that the military is the only experience open to the Negro American in which he is truly equal. Moynihan thinks this is a positive statement but it is a back handed slap to the face of all right thinking people. With this statement he levels what Mr. Yette calls, "the ultimate condemnation of U.S. society." Moynihans statement is an acknowledgement of the unjust quality of civilian life in the U.S. Rather than offer any changes Moynihan suggested the government use this fact to get more Black men into the military. In a very real sense the military is a white male subconsciously homosexual institution. (An explanation of this statement follows.) That is the last organization young impressionable Black men need to join.
In Chapter 2 Mr. Yette outlined the manner in which big business interests controlled and profited from the Job Corp. programs. During the creation of the job Corp Congress amended the Economic Opportunities Act solely, " to prevent Job Corp programs from displacing presently employed workers or impairing existing contracts for services." This was inserted into the regulations because the companies didnt want to train their own competition. What jobs were the various Job Corp programs training young people to do if they couldnt work any pre-existing job? An OEO press release of August 23,1966 answers this question most forcefully. This statement is from the OEO director Sargent Shriver (a Kennedy in-law), "Job Corps has also done well in preparing youth for military service. Always 30% of all enrollees, upon graduation, enter the military service, even though the vast majority were totally ineligible before." Shriver had, in March of that same year advocated the registration and testing of all young people at age 16. This would give the U.S. Government time to perform remedial physical fitness, academic education, and motivational training to these youths. Then those without acceptable community opportunities would be directed to the military. The result, in Mr. Yettes words would be called a volunteer army. The last paragraph of this chapter has proven to be most prophetic. "Locked out in peace but licensed in war, a Black soldier is expendable in war but obsolete in peace. He is forever a candidate for extinction. It is compensatory suicide. A thousand mens suicide is another mans genocide."
Explanatory Note: The military is truly a "white male subconsciously homosexual institution". You must examine the military without prejudice. The psychological attitude of an all-male army exhibits both adolescent and homosexual tendencies. The tendencies are sublimated but there none the less. The latent homosexual who maintains that condition for psychological reasons tends to indulge in behavior designed to cause pain. Adolescent in the way they group together as packs when in the camp or going to town. Remember the Tailhook scandal? Grown men did childish, sexist things that were an organized yearly rite supervised and supported by seasoned officers. Salt peter is freely given in boot camp because the commanders wish to displace the desire for sex into a willingness to accept pain. Hazing is acceptable to new recruits. After battles rape is acceptable and often murderous. Homosexuals have been the best warriors in European history. The Greeks (Alexander first and foremost) and the Romans (every Emperor) codified homosexual love as the ultimate loves a man could achieve. The leaders of all the western nations brag about their exploits during World War Two. They make war in a vain attempt to recapture the feeling of lost sexual aggression and one other very important reason. Sending young adolescent boys to kill or be killed is a way to reduce the competition for females. My fine Black, African sisters often speak of the shortage of suitable fine Black, African brothers. White men have increased the numbers of young Black men in the combat arm of the military. Combine this with the fact that the U.S. judicial system is throwing more and more young Black men in jail. This full court press by the white power structure has reduced the competition for my fine Black, African sisters which provides further vindication of my statements.
